"Ugh! How can you listen to this?" Joey asked his girlfriend, as they drove down the freeway. "What, I think theyre good" she replied. "That hurt" "Im not saying that I like them better, but theyre good" "Ok" Lyn smiled to herself, Damn, Nick is so fine. Joey brought her back to reality, when he started cursing at the car next to him, "Youre listening to them too. Ahhhhh!!! Here this is better" he said throwing a copy of N Syncs CD through the window into the girls car. "Joey, you cant sell the CD, so you got to give it away" Lyn teased. "We can sell an album" Joey said, getting offended. "You know I dont mean it, I was only kidding" "Yea yea, whatever" They came to the exit for Orlando and drove to the RCA studios.
"Marinnnnna" Nick whined. "What?" "I dont know what to do" "Whats new" "Im serious Mar, I love Stephbut I also love Jessica, but weve been friends forever and I dont want to risk losing our relationship if it doesnt workand then theres Lyn" "Lyn? Whos Lyn? Isnt Joey goin out with a Lyn?" "No, I meanLyndsey" he said picking up a handful of sand and letting it run through his fingers. "Waitwhos Lyndsey?" "Oh. Just forget it. Im really torn between Steph and Jess" "Well I dont know what to tell ya little man, you and Stephanie have been separated for a few months now, do you want to get back with heror move on?" "I dont know" he said with a confused look on his face. "Here let me give you a hug" "Ok" he said moving closer and letting her arms wrap around his body, "I needed that" "I know"
The rest of the guys were already there when Joey and Lyn walked into the studio. "Hey guys" "Hey Joe, hey Lyn" "Hiya" Lyn said. Justin ducked when she said this. "What are you doing?" she asked. "Well you said Hiya so I ducked, thought you were going to do some of that karate on me" "Youre such a ditz Justin, you should have kept your hair blonde, it would have fit you better" "Yea dont ya knowshe only does that to me" Joey chimed in. Everyone laughed at this. "Wellthere was that one time" "oooooooooohhh, shes bustin on you" JC teased. "I know shes only kidding" Joey said, giving her a kiss.
"Ohhhhhhhh, I love this song" Rose said, turning up the radio. "I drive myself crazy alright" Howie said, "Dont they get on your nerves just a little?" "No, I think they are good, you dont think so?" "Theyre okI guessbut theyre our competition" "True, you guys are so much better than them" "Thanks sweetie" "Sure babe" "Well the guys will be coming soon, we better get ready" "Yea" she agreed. Ten minutes later Brian, Jillian, and Tyke got there. "Hey guys!" they said as they came around back. "Hi" "Oh, How, AJ said that Amber couldnt make it so hes bringing his friend Kelly" "Oh alright" "Is Nick coming?" Jill asked, "I know he was upset earlier today" "I doubt hell comehes spending the day with Marina" "Oh ok, what about Kev?" she asked. "He and Jen had plans already, so they wont be coming either" "So all were waiting for is J and Kel?" "Si senorita" "Hello, hello, hello" AJ shouted as he entered the yard. "And here they are now" Howie said. "Hey you two" Brian exclaimed. "Hi yall" said Kelly. "Ok, lets get the dogs on the grill" Howie said putting on his apron. "NO!" Brian screamed grabbing his dog, "Not Tyke!" "The hot dogs" Howie said laughing. "You dont think that Tyke is hot?" he pouted. "Lets not go there" AJ said, "I dont swing that way"
Lou was supposed to arrive at the studio at 1 and it was 12:30 now, so the guys had some time to just chill. Lyn and Joey were sitting on the love seat in the conference room, having what they thought was a private conversation. "Do you mind?" Joey said, realizing Justins presence. "Oh sorry" Justin said, coming out of his daze, "I didnt mean to eavesdrop" "Sure whatever, can you take a hike now?" Lyn asked annoyed that he was staring at her. "Nobody likes me" he mumbled to himself as he walked away from the couple. He went outside only to find JC, Lance, Chris, and his best friend Cassidy all playing b-ball. "Hey guys, can I play?" "Sorry Justy, but we already got the game goin" Cassidy explained. "Fine" "Just go play with yourself Justin" Chris joked. "Fine I will then, its better than playin with you peoplewait, no, Ill call Becky" "Why are you telling uslike we care" Lance said as Justin went inside again to call his girlfriend. "Excuse mecan I use the phone?" he asked the receptionist. "Yes, its in the conference room" Oh great he said to himself, "Cant this place hook me up with a cell phone" "Im sorry Mr. Timberlake, thats not in your contract" "Screw this, Im outta here" "Mr. Timberlake, you have a recording session, you cant just leave" "Oh yeaIll just go use the phone now" he said pointing to the door of the conference room. "You again" Joey said, when Justin walked in. "Shut up fag, I gotta use the phone" "Well I gotta go to the bathroom" "I thought I saw a fire hydrant down the street" Justin explained as Joey left to find the bathroom. "For once, you actually said somethin funny" Lyn said laughing. "Thanks" he gloated. He went over to the phone and dialed Rebeccas number. At that moment, something came over Lyn. She got up off of the love seat and walked over to where Justin was standing. She lifted his chin up with her finger, and looked deep into his blue eyes. "Justin" she whispered. She leaned closer and touched her lips to his. "Lyn" Justin whispered between kisses. "Shhh" she said, parting her lips and letting Justins tongue explore her mouth. On the other end of the phone, which was now hanging by Justins side, Rebeccas answering machine picked up and was now recording. "Lyn, we shouldnt be doing this" he managed to get out. She moved away a little. "I want you Justin, you know Im not happy with Joey, dont you want me?" "More than anything" he admitted. They heard Joey whistling as he came down the hallway. "Justin, not a word to Joey about this" Lyn whispered as she walked back to her spot on the couch. "My lips are sealed" he said hanging up the phone, not realizing that their whole "conversation" would soon be heard by his girlfriend.
"So tell me about this Lyndsey girl" Marina said to Nick while he was building a sand castle. "Well what do you want to know?" Nick asked nervously. "Where and when did you meet her, whats she like, stuff like that" "Oh, I met her at that tornado benefit concert we did with N Sync back in September. Shes really nice, and beautiful, and funny, and amazing, God I miss her, but were better off just as friends" "Awww, Nickys in love" "No, Im over her" he said with a sigh, "I think" "Dont worry youll find someone" "Yea" Nick stood up to admire his masterpiece. "Boo!" Jessica shouted as she jumped on Nicks back. "Hey girl!" he exclaimed. She slid off of his back, "Thats some sand castle NC" "Thanks" "Hey you two wanna play some Frisbee?" Jessica asked taking it out of her bag. "You two can play" Nick said, "Ill just watch" As the girls played, Nick contemplated his and Jessicas relationship. As the afternoon turned to dusk, Nick had made a decision about his future, he just had to muster up enough courage to ask her.
"The food is ready" Rose called over to where everyone was gathered. "Great, Im starving" Brian said, running over to the deck. "Man, that boy can eat" Jill teased. "Hey, Im hungry" Brian called back to his girlfriend. They had been going out for about a month now. They made the cutest coupleor at least thats what everyone always told them. "Tyke, go away" Brian yelled as his dog jumped up and down next to him at the picnic table, "Im not given you a hot dog, so dont even ask" "Brian, hes not goin to ask, he cant talk" AJ mentioned. "Im being sarcastic" he replied, "I was trying to add humor to this get together" "Ok, thats fine, but it only works if you actually make us laugh" "Funny J, real funny" "Thanks, but it wasntyou see no one was laughing, so it wasnt funny" "Shut up AJ" "No I dont think I will" "Would you two stop! You sound like an old married couple" Howie screamed. "Sorry D" they said simultaneously. "Just want this day to be peacefulquiet and peacefulunderstand?" "Yes daddy" Brian replied. AJ laughed. "Now you see Bri, that was funny" "Thanks Bone" "Sure B"
"Did you miss me?" Joey asked, returning to the love seat next to Lyn. "Very much so" she replied, giving him a little kiss. Justins heart longed for her, and it killed him to see her kissing Joey, when he knew she wasnt happy with him. I dont know how long I can last keeping this all inside he thought as he looked upon them cuddling from his spot at the conference table. That guy is the luckiest in the world he told himself, but I can handle it, Im strong A few minutes later Lou, Lance, JC and Chris entered the room. "Are you boys ready to discuss a new album?" Lou asked, taking a seat at the head of the table. "Sure are" Joey said, leaving Lyn on the love seat, and walking over to the table to join the rest of the group. "Im gonna go out in the waiting room with Cassie" she said, blowing Joey a kiss, but looking at Justin, who was sitting right in front of Joey. Justin did everything in his power to hold back the urge to get up and go over to Lyn and kiss her. Stop doing this he told himself, I dont want to hurt anyone The whole time they were discussing the new album Justin kept telling himself that he didnt want Lyn, trying to convince himself that it was the truth.
The meeting ended two hours later. "Justin, are you alright" Lance asked, "You seemed out of it the whole time" he said slightly laughing. "Yea Im fine" "Well me and Char are gonna go out tonight, do you and Becca wanna join us" "Oh shit, Becky, I forgot about her" "I thought you called her" Lance said, somewhat confused. "No, I was unable to make the phone call, Lyn and Joey were in the conference room and would have gotten mad if I had gone in" "Oh" Lance answered, "So call her now, and see if she wants to go" "Alright, do you have your cell on you?" "Yea" he said reaching in his pocket and tossing him his phone. "Thanks, by the way, how did you manage to get a cell phone" "UmI went out and bought it" "Ohright" He dialed the number and a few rings later a sobbing Rebecca answered the phone. "Hello?" "Becky, its Justin, you alright?" "You asshole, how could you even call me? I never want to see your face ever again!" "What are you talking about?" he asked, completely oblivious to the message that was left on her machine" "What the fuck? Are you that inconsiderate? Dont you want me?" "More than anything Dont play games with me Justin" "Oh my God, you heard that" "Yea, I did, you left it on my machine, and Id like to thank you. I really appreciate it, really I do" "Rebecca, I am so sorry, I didnt mean it" "Like hell you didnt mean it, I never want to see you or that tramp again, ever, so dont even try. Good-bye Justin, I hope you rot in hell" she screamed at him, then hung up the phone. Justin handed Lance his phone, "Sorry man, cant make it tonight" "Why what happened?" "She broke up with me" "So she dumped your sorry ass" Lyn said coming up next to them. "Yeawait my sorry ass, I dont think so, she broke up with me" "Yea, whatever, I still say she dumped ya" "Shut up Lyn, how would you know" "Cuz I know Becky, and shes the type of girl who would dump a guy like you" "Well maybe I deserved to be dumped" "Dont say that" Lance said patting Justins back, "Itll be ok" "Yea" he said, looking over at Lyn out of the corner of his eye.
"That was fun" Marina told Jessica after their game of Frisbee. "Yea, it was" Jessica agreed. "Well, Im gonna go now" Marina said, gathering all of her stuff that she had brought, "Have fun you two" "Bye Mar" Nick said, watching her as she walked away. When she was out of sight, he slowly turned around to face Jessica, who was sitting down next to him lookin out at the ocean. "Wanna take a walk?" he asked. "Sure" she said, jumping up, putting her hand out to help Nick to his feet. The sun was sinking below the horizon and the sky was red and orange. "Its beautiful, isnt it?" she asked, pointing to setting sun. "Yea, but not as beautiful as you" he said, his eyes getting big, Did I just say that? he asked himself. "Thanks Nick, thats sweet" "Its the truth" he said, slightly blushing. Jessica smiled and looked out at the ocean. "Its so calm at this time of day" she said, trying to change the subject. "Yea it is, I love the oceanbut you already knew that" "Yea" she said, lookin over at Nick, "Is there something you want to talk about Nick?" "No, not really" "Not really? That means theres something" she said, "Come on, please tell me" she begged. "Ok" he said, taking a deep breath, "How do I say this?" He paused for some time. "Weve been friends for 7 years now, and I think its time that I told you how I really feelJessIm in love with you and I wanted to know if youd be my girlfriend" he said shyly. "Oh Nick" Jessica said, shocked at his confession, "I dont think that is such a good idea" "Why?" "Your like my best friend Nick, and I dont look at you like a boyfriend, I dont mean to hurt you, Im sorry, we wouldnt be good for each other" "Oh, well if thats how you feel" he said trailing off. "Im sorry" she said, stopping and giving him a hug, "I should go" and she ran off down the beach to grab her bag, and then drove away. Nick fell to his knees at the spot on the beach where she had left him. "I guess I just dont have the luck" he whispered. He was hurt, but tried to pretend that he was ok, even though no one else was there that he had to hide from. He sat there for a few minutes, listening to the waves breaking on the beach. Coming out of his hypnosis, he got up and strolled down the beach to where his Durango was parked. He got in and started the car. Even though he respected her decision, he was still disappointed. He put his head down against the steering wheel. "Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" His head shot up. "God" he screamed, scared by the horn. He started to laugh at what had just happened. Why am I laughing? That wasnt funny, it scared the living daylights out of me he thought. "It must be my sense of humor" he said shaking his head, as he drove away.
When Joey and Lyn got home from the studio, she went upstairs to write in her diary. "Dear Diary, Todayfor the first timeI realized that I dont hate Justin, in fact, Im in love with him. Its the strongest love that Ive ever felt. I dont want to hurt Joey, and I am the cause of Justins and Beccas brake up. What should I do? Ive never felt this way about anyone beforenot even Nickand the love I had for him was so strong. I am so confused. I have to act like I hate him, which 12 hours ago wouldnt have been that hardbut nowand how does he feel about me now? He must hate me for ending his relationship. We could have kept our relationship a secret, he could have been happy with Becky, and I with Joey, and we could have been happy with each other. But that would be wrong, but I cant hide how I feelbut Ill try" She stopped writing, to see Joey standing in the doorway. "Hey, how long have you been standing there?" she asked, shutting her diary and locking it. "Just a few minutes" he said walking over to the bed. Lyn rolled over on her back and looked up at Joey, who was now hovering over her body. She reached up and kissed him, pulling him closer to her body. He rolled over on his back, pulling her on top of him. "Its been a while" he said. "Yea" she agreed as she undid his pants, the whole time thinking about Justin. I cant believe Im doing this, its Justin I love
"Kevin?" Jen called, walking inside their house, "You got something from Lou, and someone named Alexandra Ackerman" "Alex!" "Whos she?" she asked. "My girlfriend from high school" he responded. "Oh I seeit looks like an invitation" Kevin took the envelope from Jen and opened it. In deed it was an invitation. "Shes getting married! And Im invited" "Thats great, whens the wedding?" Jen asked. "In three weeks, its up in Lexington" "Ya gonna go?" she asked "Yea, itll be fun, youre gonna come, right?" "Im not on the invitation though" "It says I can bring a guest" "Oh alright, Id love to" "Then its a date" he said smiling, "HmmI wonder what Lou wants" Kevin said, picking up the other envelope. He read the card carefully. "It says that hes having a TransCon reunion and were invited" "That sounds like fun" Jen said, "But does that mean N Sync will be there?" "Yea, they arent that bad" "I know, but you usually get moody when theyre around" "I know, but its not like I have to hang around with them, right?" "True" "So its another date" "Yea"
"Hello?" Brian said answering the phone. "B, its Howie, did you get an invite from Lou?" "Yea, you?" "Yea, are you gonna go?" "Sure, I guess it wouldnt be right if we didnt show, ya know what I mean?" "Yea, were goin, Im just checking with the other guys, to see if they are" "Ok, well I gotta go, me and Jill were just gettin ready to leave" "Oh sorry to keep ya" "Thats ok D, talk to ya later" "Bye" Brian grabbed his baseball cap and took Jills hand, "Come on" he said pulling her out the door. It was a beautiful afternoon and a perfect day to be outside. They decided to walk the few blocks it was to the stadium, since it was so nice out. "I love baseball" Brian said as they got to the ball park. "I know" Jill said, as they took their seats right behind the dugout, "Great seats" "Only the best seats for the best girl" Brian said putting his arm around Jills shoulders. She smiled and sat back, waiting for the game to start.
When Joey came downstairs, Lyn was on the phone with Justin. When she heard him coming, she had changed her tone and attitude towards him. "Well maybe you deserved it" she said, discussing his break up with Becky. "What?!? You just saidoh is Joey there" "Yea hes right herehere its Justin" she said handing Joey the phone. Joey took the phone, "Whats up man?" "Becky broke up with me" "Aww, Im sorry Justin" he said trying to console his friend. "Yea, me too" Justin answered, "Are you and Lyn going to Lous party on Saturday?" "Yea, are you?" "Yea, well Ill probably see ya then" "Yea, but you should come over this afternoon, maybe we can cheer you up" "Thanks man, butyeaI think I will come" "Ok, well see ya when you get here" Lyns eyes lit up at this. "So Justins coming over?" she asked putting on the annoyed act that she had perfected so well. "Yea, hell be here in a few" "Ok, I guess I should go get dressed" she said walking out of the kitchen.
JC and his girlfriend Danielle, Chris and his girlfriend Angie, and Lance and his girlfriend Charity were all going out for lunch at The Hard Rock Cafi. When they first entered the restaurant they werent noticed and sneaked to the back and sat at a table in the corner. A few minutes after they got situated, three girls around 14 years old started screaming. "Ahhhhh! Its N Sync!!" they screamed, running over to their table. "Oh my God! Can I have your autograph?" one girl asked JC. "Sure" he replied, taking the girls pen and napkin that she wanted him to sign. "My name is Caroline" she said nervously. "Are you their girlfriends?" another girl asked. "Yea" Charity replied, moving closer to Lance. "Here you go" he said, handing the napkin and pen back to her. "Thanks" she said smiling. "Oh my god, I got JCs autograph" she whispered to her friend standing behind her. After the girls got their autographs, they left the guys to eat their lunch.
Nick slept in til noon. When he went downstairs, there was an envelope on the floor in front of the door. He bent over and picked it up. It said To Nicky He opened it and read the note that was inside. It read: Nicky, Come to the beach at 12. Jess. Nick looked at the clock and saw that it was 12:30. He grabbed his keys and ran out the door, in only his boxers and drove to the beach hoping Jessica would still be there. When he got there he saw her sitting on the beach, watching the waves. He got out of his car and walked over to her. "Jess" he said, coming up behind her. "Hey Nick! Hows it goin?" "Ok" "Just ok?" "Welllast night was upsetting for me" he confessed. "Oh yea, right, listen Nick, last nightI dont know what was wrong with me, but when I got in my car after I left you on the beach, I started crying. I dont know why, maybe because I realized that what you said actually didnt sound too far off from how I feel about you" she said, still staring out at the ocean. "Jess" he said, "Do you love me?" "Thats what Im trying to say Nick, yes I do love you" "So why not be my girlfriend?" "Im afraid that it will ruin our friendship" "Thats what I was afraid of too, but I thought about it for a long time and I decided that its you that I want to be with" "I really want to say yes to you" "Then please do" he said, "I love you Jessica" "Nick, I love you, and" Jessica sat in silence for a few moments, lost in her thoughts. "And I will say yes to you" "Thank you Jess" Nick said, pulling her close to his body. "Thank you for what?" she asked. "For making me the happiest Ive been in a long time" She smiled and put her head on his shoulder as they sat on the beach looking out over the ocean.
When Lyn came downstairs, Justin and Joey were sitting out on the deck. She was wearing a black halter top and Jean shorts, with her curly hair piled in a messy bun on the top of her head. She went outside to join the boys. "You look delicious" Joey commented. "Thanks" Lyn replied, "Hey Justin" she said sitting down, not even looking at him. "Hi Lyn" he said, trying not to drool. "So what can we do to cheer you up?" Joey asked turning to Justin. "I could use a beer" he said. "Alright, let me go see if we have any" Joey said, getting up from the table and going inside. "You look fabulous" Justin told Lyn when Joey was out of hearing distance. "Thanks, you dont look to bad yourself" she said. Joey came back outside, "Im gonna run over to get some, were all out" he said kissing Lyn before he left, "Now you two, dont beat each other up while Im gone" "We wont" Justin said to his friend. Sure we wont Lyn said to herself.
After he left, Justin and Lyn went inside. Lyn took his hand and led him up the steps and into the bedroom. "Hes gonna be awhile" she told him, turning around and looking into his eyes. "If were gonna do this, I want to do it right" he said, pulling her closer. "Yea" she agreed. He led her over to the bed, and pulled her on top of his body. Again she looked into his big blue eyes, they were so hypnotizing. She flashed back to the day before in the conference room, he was so gentle with her, yet so passionate. She came back to reality to the touch of Justins hand lightly brushing her back. "You ok?" he asked. "Yes, just thinking of yesterday" she said smiling. Justin smiled and then began to kiss her neck, while untying her shirt. "Justin" she whispered, "I really want youbut maybe we should waittil its not as awkward" "You feel awkward?" he asked. "A little, I mean, if Joey comes back.we should do this when there is no chance of being caught" "I guess youre right" he said, understanding her point, "I can wait" "Good, I dont know how long I can though" she said with a laugh. "Thats it, thats what did it" "What? Thats what did what?" she inquired. "Youre laugh, thats what made me fall in love with you" "You love me Justy?" she asked smiling. "Yes. Do you love me?" he asked. "YesI do" A few minutes later they heard Joeys car pull into the driveway and quickly went downstairs into the kitchen. "Here you go" Joey said, walking in the door with a 6-pack. "Thanks Joey, but I dont think I need the beer after all, sorry to cause you the trouble" "Its alright" he said putting the beer in the fridge, "So, youre feeling better?" he asked. "Sure am" he said, "You wanna play some b-ball?" he asked his friend. "Not really, its too hot out there, sorry" "Thats alrightLyn" "Huh?" "You wanna play with me?" "Sure" she said, "and Im gonna beat your ass"
It was Sunday afternoon and it was cloudy and gray outside. "I hate it when its like this" Nick said as he looked out the window. "Jess?" he asked when he got no reply, "JessWhere are you?" He got up from his chair, and went into the kitchen. She wasnt there. Then he noticed a light from down the basement. "Jessyou down there?" "Yea" he heard her voice say. He went down the stairs to find her looking through a box of pictures and comics Nick had made over the years. "Oh so youre looking at my artwork he said looking over her shoulder. "Yea, its really good" she complemented. "Thank you" "Uh huh" she said, still looking at his drawings. "Come back upstairs with meplease" he said, "I was lonely up there without ya" "You didnt even know I was gone" "Ok but I still missed you" "Nick!" "What?" "Your impossible" "Impossible to resist?" "Yeathat too" she said getting up and giving him a hug.
Justin was taking a walk when it started pouring rain. He ran into the first building he came upon, an old apartment complex. "Damn!" he said, coming out of the rain. "A little wet out there?" a girl who had just come in a few minutes before, asked with a slight laugh. "Yea, just a little" he responded. "Hi, Im Sarah" she said, putting her hand out. "Im Justin. Nice to meet you" he said, shaking her extended hand. "Nice to meet you tooWould you like me to dry your clothes?" she asked, turning towards her apartment. "Sure, if youd be so kind" "Come on in" she said, letting him into her home, "My brother should have something you could wear" she said, walking into her brothers room. A few minutes later she came out with a pair of shorts and a T-shirt, "Here, these look like theyll fit" "Thanks" he said going into the bathroom, to change out of his soaked clothes. He came out and Sarah put his wet garments in the dryer. "So, what were you doing walking out in the rain?" she asked. "Well it wasnt raining when I left" he told her, "But I was contemplating lifethat was the reason for my walk" "Did something bad happen?" she asked with concern in her voice. "WellI dont want to bore you with the long versionso Ill give you the short rendition" he started, "Girl problems" "What, you dont have a girlfriend?" she asked. "Nope. Why do you sound surprised?" "I just thought a guy that looks as good as you do, would have lots of girls wanting to go out with him" "WellThanks for the complement" he said, "but not really that many girls are interested in me. So tell me about yourself" he said, changing the subject. "Well Im 17, I havent had a boyfriend for awhile, I like going to the movies and the mallnormal teenage stuffI live here with my brotherour parents died last year in a car accident" "Oh, Im sorry to hear that" Justin said, giving her a little hug to comfort her. "I really miss them, but I know that they are watching us from Heaven" she said, tears starting to form in her eyes. They sat and talked for the rest of the afternoon, like they had known each other for years. "I should get goin, its gettin late" Justin said looking at the clock. "Oh alright" "I had a great afternoon, heres my number" he said handing her a piece of paper with the digits on it, "Call me sometime" "Ok" Sarah said, as Justin left her apartment.
When he got home he called Cassidy. "Cassieits Justin" he said when she picked up the phone. "Hey Justin! Hows it goin?" I mean I was when we first started going outbut youre 22 and Im only 17, its too big a difference in age. It just doesnt seem as great as it used to be. I was thinking about moving out" "What? "Jillllllllly! Brian called, chasing his girlfriend around the house. He ran into the bedroom after her and pinned her down on the bed, as he began to tickle her. "Brian.stop.that tickles" she got out in between laughs. "Does ithow much does it tickle" "StopIll tickle you" she threatened. "Oh noshes gonna tickle me!" he teased. "I know youre ticklish!" she said, looking up at Brian who had now stopped. "I love you Jill" "I love you too Brian" He got up from the bed and went over to his night stand, and opened the drawer, pulling out a tiny black box. He went over to the bed, where Jill was, now sitting up. He got down on his knee and opened the box, revealing a diamond ring with tiny emeralds surrounding it. "Brian" "Jill, I know this may seem a little soon, weve only known each other for a month, but I know that you are the one for me, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Jill, will you be my wife" "Of course I will" she said wiping away a tear. He slipped the ring on her finger, gave her a kiss and picked her up, twirling her around. "Im so happy" he said, putting her down. "Me too" she said.
The phone rang in Justins apartment. "Ello?" "Justin, its Sarah" "Oh hi Sarah. Hows it going?" "Pretty good, I was wondering if you wanted to do something today" "Sure Id love to" "What should we do?" "That place we went to yesterday was pretty nice" Justin responded. "Yea, ya wanna go back?" "Sure, Ill pick you up in 10 minutes" "Alright, Ill see ya then" "Bye" Justin went upstairs to get his keys when the phone rang again. "Hello?" "Justyits Lyn" "Oh hi Lyn, I was gettin ready to leavecan I talk to you later" "Where are you goin?" "This little restaurant with Sarah" "Well I was just calling to see how you werebut Ill let you go" "K, thanks. Im gonna ask her to be my girlfriend. Im so excited. See ya later" "Bye" Lyn hung up the phone. Girlfriend? she said to herself.
"Hey Sar" Justin said as she got in his car. "Hey Justy" JustyLyn calls me JustyLyndid I hurt when I said I was gonna ask Sarah to be my girl? he thought. "Can you not call me thatI have a mania about people callin me Justysorry" "OhIm sorry" "Why dont we go somewhere elsehow about the park?" he asked, pulling out of the complexs parking lot. "Ok" she said. When they got to the park, they took a walk, holding hands. "Sarah, I know that weve only known each other a couple days, but Ive never felt this way before, and I want you to be my girlfriendwould you?" "Yes I will" she said stopping and kissing him.
Friday afternoon
Justin called Lyn since he had to go before they could really talk earlier that week. "Hey Joey!" Justin said when he picked up the phone. "Hey Justin" "Whats wrong? You sound glum" "Lyn moved outshe said that she wasnt happy anymore and that our age difference had something to do with it so" "Really? Oh Im sorry man" "Well I was just calling to see how you were doing. I should go now" "K, see ya tomorrow at Lous" "Yea, see ya" He hung up the phone. She left himDid she leave him for me? he said now feeling guilty about him and Sarah, How could I be doing this he thought, "Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!" he screamed, letting out all of his frustration. "You ok?" Sarah asked, coming up to the door and looking through the peep hole. "Yea" he said going over to the door and opening it. "Ok, ya ready to go?" "Yea" They went outside, and they started on their way to JCs house, which was right down the road from Justins apartment building. "JustinI dont feel too well, I think Im going to" she said running over to a bush. "We should get you home or to a doctor or something" Justin said when she came back coughing and holding her stomach. "Its probably just the flu or something, dont worry about it" "Nonsense, youre going to a doctor" He took her to the hospital. He was sitting in the waiting room when the doctor said he could come in. He went in the room and sat down next to Sarah. "Whats wrong with meis it just a virusI told Justin there was nothing to worry about" "Well Miss Hunte, you arent sick, but you are pregnant, congratulations" "Whatthats impossible! We havent done anything" Justin said looking over at Sarah. Sarah just sat in silence. "Ill leave you two alone" the doctor said, leaving them in his office. "Sarah, you told me that you didnt have a boyfriendand I think I would know if we slept together" Sarah wiped away a tear, before she began to speak. "I liedwhen I said I didnt have a boyfriendyou were so nice and Tim had been away in the militaryIm sorryI took advantage of the situationI was lonelyI wasnt expecting him to come home so soon. He came back Tuesday night. I was so happy to see himand he was happy to see meplease forgive me?" "Forgive you??" "First you lie to me, take advantage, you knew I was vulnerable, then you fuckin cheat on me" "Well actuallyI am cheating on Tim with youif you can consider what were doing cheating" "I thought that I loved youno I know that I did" "Justin" "No I dont want to hear anymore excusesyou lied to meand I dont want to just be youryourwhatever I am to you" he said storming out of the office. "Justin" she called down the hall after him, "Im sorry" she whispered.
Justin drove away from the hospital and went over to Joeys house. He pounded on the door. "Joe! Open upI need to talk to you" "What is it?" Joey asked, letting him in. "I need to talk to Lyn, where did she go?" "Lynwhy do you want to talk to her?" "I just need to talk to her God damn it. Tell me where she is!" he demanded. "She went to her sisters house" he told him. "Thanks" "Yeayou better not hurt her" "Why would I hurt her" "You seem capable of violence" "Im not that mad!" he shouted back to Joey as he walked back to his car.
Justin got to Anns house about 15 minutes later. He had been crying the whole way there. He got out of his car and went up and knocked on the door. "I got it" Lyn called to her sister. Hearing her voice made him happier. "Justy!" she said smiling, forgetting about Sarah, "Come in. Have you been crying? Whats wrong Justy?" "Lyn" he said putting his arms around her and holding her body close to his, "I love you Lyn"

"Im sure that you are all wondering why Ive gathered you here todayand I might as well tell you now" Lou started, "Im retiring at the end of this month" he announced, "And I figured, what better way to go out than to have a party. I dont want this to be a party of sadness, cause I know how upset you all are" he joked, "I want it to be fun. So have a great time!"
"Lou, why are you retiring?" Chris said, going over to him, Angie by his side. "Im tired of workingyou dont need me anymoreIm old newsyou need someone fresh and new" he confessed. "Lou, were gonna miss you. You were like a father to the group" "Im gonna miss all of you too" he told him, "Now go have some fun" he said motioning for them to leave him alone for a little.
"Hey Nick" Brian called, walking over to his friend, "When was the last time I saw you?" "I know, Ive been secluding myself from the group, sorry" "Ohhh big words" "Shut up Brian" "Sorry FrackuhWheres Jessica?" "She couldnt come" "Oh so thats why youre so down, huh?" "Yea" Just then Jill came up behind Brian, signaling to Nick not to say anything. She put her hands over his eyes, "Guess who?" "Uhhh.Jilly?" "Yeayou win a prize" she said turning him around and giving him a kiss. "I like those kind of prizes" he said with a smirk. "I think Ill leave you two alone" Nick said walking over to an empty table.
"So youre a loner too" Justin said, walking up to where Nick was sitting. "Yea, my girl couldnt make it" "Girls!" he said with a sigh. Im in a deep depression over themespecially that one" he said motioning over to where Lyn was standing with Joey. "Lyn? Lyn Peterman?" "Yea, you know her?" "Yea, we had a little something going on at one point" "I see" "So why are you so depressed over her?" "Come on man, look at herand I cant have her" "I thought she broke up with Joey" "Thats what I thoughtbut last night I went to her sisters house, where she was stayingand she explained that they are just separated" "Oh bummer" "Yea tell me about it"
Joey and Lyn were over by the punch bowl. Joey was trying to convince her to move back in with him, when he noticed that she wasnt paying attention to what he was saying. She was looking in the direction of Nick and Justin. "LynWhat are you staring it?" he asked. "Ohnothing" she said, coming out of her daze. "No you were looking at that bastard!" he screamed, as he started off toward Nick and Justin. "No Joey!" Lyn yelled, "Dont hurt him!" "You!" Joey screamed, picking Nick up by the collar of his shirt"What have you and Lyn been up to?" he asked. "Nothing!" Nick said with an attitude. At that point everyones attention was on Nick and Joey. "Youre not getting away that easy" he said, punching Nick in the stomach, then in the face. "Jesus Christ Joey!" Lyn shrieked, "Were not doing anything!" Joey turned around, and looked her right in the eye. "Like hell youre not" he said, hitting her so hard that she fell to the ground. By then Justin was outraged. "What the fuck Joe?" he screamed at him. "Dont you start with me" Joey warned. "She is youre God damn girlfriend!" Justin screamed, "What the hell is your problem? You dont even believe her?" "You dont know what shes like" Lyn had gotten up and was now standing behind Justin. "Dont let him hurt me Justy" she cried. "I wont" he said, turning around and taking her in his arms. "Why exactly did you go to talk to Lyn last night" Joey questioned Justin "I needed her" Justin answered. At this Joey was ready to kill "You little fucker!" he screamed, pushing Justin to the ground. "JOE!" Lyn screamed as he began to kick Justin. "Youyou little whore" he said leaving Justin on the ground, "It was HIM you were looking at!" Joey was furious and didnt want to hear another word. He stormed out to his car. "Justin" Lyn cried, running over to him. His body was bruised and cut. "Lyn" he said, trying to sit up, "Im sorry" "Theres nothing to be sorry about, you didnt do anything wrong" she said holding him in her arms, "if anyone, I was the cause of this, and Im sorry" "Joey didnt deserve you" Justin said. "Last call for Flight 309 to Lexington, Kentucky" came over the speaker in the airport. "Come on Kevwere gonna be late" Jen said, pulling Kevin by the hand through the crowded building. They made it to the terminal just in time, gave the attendant their tickets and boarded the plane. "Kentucky here we come" Kevin said as they took their seats in first class. "This will be fun, I cant wait to meet this Alex girl" Jen said as the plane took off. "Yea, shes a great girl" he said looking out the window.
"Howardoh Howardwhered you get to?" Rose said, coming downstairs. She walked into the kitchen and saw a note on the table. Rosie, I went over to AJs place for a littleI love yabe home around 12. Howie "Hmmwonder why hes over thereoh well" she said going back upstairs to get dressed. Just then the phone rang. Rose just let the machine get it. "How! Its Kim! I was just wondering if you wanted to get together this weekend. Well give me a call, you have my number. Talk to ya later. Bye" Kim? Rose said to herself, continuing up the steps, Ill just have to have a word with that boy
DeAnn, Kristi, and Samantha were going to spend the day in Disney World. Ironically, their ex-boyfriends, Lance, JC, and Chris, and their girlfriends were also there. "Hey guys" they said coming up behind the boys. "Hey" they said. "Who are these lucky girls?" they asked with a bit of jealousy in their voices. "This is Angie" Chris said, introducing his girlfriend. "This is Danielle" JC said. "And this is Charity" Lance told the girls. "Nice to meet you all" Samantha said. "Nice to meet you too" Angie responded. "Do you want to tag along with us?" Chris asked the girls. "Sureitll be fun" "Great! Lets go!" Danielle said.

Jen was getting ready for the wedding when Kevins cell phone started ringing. "Kevyour phone is ringingKev?" "La la la la" was all she heard coming out of the bathroom. Since Kevin was in the shower she answered it. "Hello?" "Hey Jenwhats up?" "Well BrianI was just in the middle of getting ready for the weddingwhat about you?" "Oh sorry to bother youIm talking to you" "I know that much" "Well you askedis Kev around?" "Hes in the shower right nowbut Ill tell him you calledany messages I should give him?" "Yea suretell him that my mom will be stopping by later tonight to give him a package for me that was sent to my parents house" "Ok, Ill give him the word" "Thanks Jenhave fun at the weddingtell Kev to say hi to Alex for me" "Ok, will do, bye Brian" "Bye"

Justin had been beaten up pretty badly from the fight at Lous party, so he had been staying with Lyn at her sisters house. This gave them some time to have a real conversation. "Justy?" Lyn said walking into the guest room where he had been staying. "Yea" "Can I ask you something?" "Yeawhat is it?" he said sitting up in the bed. Lyn sat down next to Justin and looked in his eyes, before she began to speak. "Do youwhat do you think about me?" "What do you mean?" "Welldo you think that Im a slut?" she said with hesitation in her voice. "No, why would I think that?" "Cause all of my other boyfriends, and everyone back in Colorado didand I just want to know what you think" "Well, I have to admitalthough this really doesnt answer your questionwhen Nick was telling me that you two had something goin on at one pointI was jealous, but I never thought you were a slut" "WellI guess I should tell youI think that you deserve to know" "I dont like the way that sounds" "No, no, I think youll be happy" Lyn said with a slight smile, "See, me and Nickwe never did anythingI mean wed kiss and stuffbut we never had sexand" "And?" Kevin and Jen had spent the past three weeks in Lexington. They got home on Monday morning. When they got to Kevins house, there was a message from Brian, saying that hed call back later to find out when he could come by to pick up his package. Little did he know that Kevin and Jen had brought back a surprise for him. About two hours after they got home, Brian called back. "Hey Kev! How was the wedding?" "Great! We had tons of fun!" "Thats awesome, so when should I come over?" Brian asked. "Nows fineand we have a little surprise for you!" "For me? Ok, Ill be there in a little" "See ya Bri" "See ya"
"Jill, ya wanna come with me over to Kevs?" "Sure" "K, Lets go!" When they got to Kevins house, Brian began to wonder what the surprise could be. They knocked on the door, and when it opened, Brians jaw dropped"Angeliena!" he said in surprise. "Hi Bri" she said, giving him a hug, "And you must be Jillian, Kevins told me so much about you. Congratulations on the engagement. Oh silly meI forgot to introduce myselfIm Angeliename and Bri used to go out back in high school" "Oh, nice to meet you" Jill said, shaking Angelienas hand.
When Kim had called, Rose had decided to delete the message, but when Howie got home that day she had forgotten to ask him about the girl. "Howie, a couple weeks ago, some girl named Kim called you saying that she wanted to get together with youwhat was that all about?" Rose asked. "A couple weeks ago? And youre just telling me now?" "Thats not importantwho is this girl Howie?" "Shes my ex-girlfriendbut were still friendsnothing more" "I dont knowshe didnt sound like just friends when she left the messagebut thats my opinion" "Im telling the truth Rosie, ya gotta believe me" "Well, you never know these days" "Come ondo I look like a guy that would hurt someone he loves?" "No" "SeeRosie I love you very muchand Id never hurt you" Howie began to sing the chorus from "Ill Never Break Your Heart" as he took Rose in his arms and began to dance with her.
"Lynya almost ready?" Justin asked from the bottom of the stairs. Anns friends started to get there and Justin wanted to leave before Joey arrived. "Yea, Im coming" she said as she came down the stairs wearing a black skirt and a light green tank top. "You look great" "Thanks, so do youYa ready?" "Yup" "K, lets go" "See ya Ann" "Bye you two" Ann said as they left the house.
Joey got to Anns house soon after Justin and Lyn left. "Hey Joe! Hows it goin?" Ann asked, giving him a hug as he came in. "Well, I guess a little better than before, but that doesnt say much" he said. "Cmon in, theres some people I want you to meet" Ann said, trying to get his mind off of Lyn. They walked into the family room, where a large group of people were just hanging around. "Hey everyone, this is Joey!" Ann exclaimed. Everyone replied with hellos. "One of my friends really wants to meet you, that girl I was telling you about, I think that youll get along great!" Ann said, taking Joey by the hand and leading him to Gail. "Gail, this is Joey, JoeyGail" she introduced. "Nice to meet you" Joey said, shaking Gails hand. "Nice to meet you too" she replied. "Well Im gonna go mingle, you two have fun" Ann said, as she walked away. "So" Joey began, "How long have you and Ann been friends?" "Oh, for about a year" she responded. "Thats cool! So what types of things do you like to do?" Joey asked cheerfully, becoming attracted to her almost immediately. "Well, I like to go clubbing" she said looking up at him. "Really? Me too" Joey said, smiling as they sat down on the couch. They spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know one another.
"Lets not go to the movie" Justin said as they drove toward the coast. "Ok, so where do you wanna go?" she asked. "I thought we could go to the beachI mean, its a beautiful night, and itll be nicea change of pace from a normal date" "Yea, it does sound niceI love the beach" A half an hour later, they got to the coast. The sun was just setting and the ocean was calm. "Im sorry, but I dont have a blanket or anything, this was a spur of the moment thing" "Thats ok, we dont need a blanketthe sand will do" Lyn said, as they walked along the beach. They had been walking hand in hand for a little bit when Justin stopped. Still holding Lyns hand, he sat down, pulling her beside him. He laid back and looked at the stars that were beginning to come out. Lyn was kneeling beside Justin, just watching him. "Justin" she said, moving into a straddling position over his waist. He propped himself up on his elbows, shocked at Lyns presence on his body, "Yea?" he said, looking into her eyes. "Ohno questionjust saying your name" she said with a smile. Justin sat up, moving Lyn to his lap. She wrapped her legs around his body, and put her arms over his shoulders. "What are you gonna do when you leave the group?" she asked him. "I dont know to tell you the truth, I was thinking about Australia" "Australia? Why Australia? Its so far away from home" "I knowbut its so beautiful there. Have you ever been?" "No, but I believe you that its beautiful" she said with a smile as she pulled Justin into a tight hug, "Wont you miss your family though?" "Probably, but Im not saying that Illwell never come backI just want to escape from this hectic life for a little and spend some quality time with the girl I love" "That sounds nice, I cant waitbut Im gonna miss everyonebutas long as I have youIll be alright" she said, still holding him close, "I love you" "I love you too babe"
Three and a half months had passed and it was now the night of the Grammys. The Backstreet Boys and *N Sync had been chosen to sing Let The Music Heal Your Soul. They had been in rehearsal for the past few weeks and aside from their occasional bickering, the performance sounded great.
Backstage
"Ya ready you guys" Brian said before they sang their little chant that was tradition before they performed. "What time is it?" "Its time to go to work yall" "What kind of work?" "Hard work"
Simultaneously, Justin was starting *N Syncs traditional game of Hacky Sack before a show.
"Yall ready?" Kevin asked as they were about to go on stage. "Hey dont forget me!" Aaron said squeezing in between the two groups. "Sorry bro" Nick said, pushing Aaron out in front, "Lead the way" They went on stage and sang the song perfectly. The lights went out and they returned backstage to get ready because the next award was for Best New Group, and *N Sync was nominated. As they stood backstage, the Backstreet Boys were on their way back to their seats, "Good luck guys" Howie said as they passed them. "Thanks" JC answered. Within a minute the winner was announced, "And the winner is*N Sync!" "Oh my God! We won!" Justin said excitedly as they went back onstage to accept their Grammy. Chris took the podium first. "This is such an honor. He slowly looked up from the Grammy which had been passed to him. Before he began to speak, he saw Lyn out in the audience. She smiled as he began to speak. "This Grammy means a lot to usthe past 4 months have been a tough 4 months for us. First all of the excitement of being nominated, then on top of it, we had some disputes among us" "Justin" Joey whispered, nudging him in the back. "No Joe, we have to tell them sometime, they deserve to know" Justin whispered. He turned back to the crowd and continued, "Over these past 4 months, we have had personal problems, which have led to overwhelming chaos between Joey and I. This decision was a tough one for me" he began, looking out at Lyn, whos looked at him with question, "I have decided to leave the group" "What?" Lance said, turning Justin to face him. "Youre gonna leave?" Chris asked, "Cmon Just, we can work this out" "Chris, this isnt between you and me, its me and Joey, weve been trying to work things out for the past 4 months, and its not working" The music began to play, signaling that they had to get off stage. As they walked backstage, Justin tried to explain to his group mates, or ex-group mates, that his decision was final and NOTHING could change his mind. Sadly they excepted. "Justin, I cant believe youre taking it this far" Joey said, shaking his head. "Dont pull that shit on me Joe. You are the main cause of this, so dont think this is completely my fault" "Well, you know how I am, why did you play around with my girl" "Excuse meWhy the fuck were you playing around with that bitch Cindy, while you were dating Lyn? I saved her from you" "Lyn wasnt what I wanted" Joey told him. Out of the corner of his eye, Justin noticed Lyn standing in the shadows backstage. She stepped out, when she caught Justins glance, she had a tear running down her cheek. "Joey" she said slowly, as the rage built up inside her. She walked over to him, "So you were cheating on me?" she said with a bit more anger in her tone. She kicked him in the shin and started hitting him. "You practically KILLED the man that I love, and you were doing the same fucking thing that I was!" she screamed as she hit him harder, "No, we werent doing the same thingyou actually were fucking! I cant stand you!" she screamed. She had stopped hitting him and was now crying. As Justin moved closer she fell into his arms. "Lyn!" Joey said. "Joe, I dont think its that great a time, to start with her" Justin told him as he took Lyn into one of the dressing rooms to talk to her.
In the dressing room
Lyn sat down on the couch. "Lyn" Justin started, "Im sorry" "Why are you sorry?" she said, wiping her tear-filled cheeks, "You did nothing wrong" "Im sorry for Joey, even though I shouldnt be apologizing for him, and I dont know why I am" "I cant be that mad at himbecauseI did the same thingwell close to the same thing, the same concept is behind our actions, butits the fact thathe got so mad when he found out" "I know what you mean" Justin said, sitting down next to her. "Actually I dont think you do, but if its a way to make me feel betterits working" Lyn said as she took Justins hand in hers, "So when are we going to Australia?" she said with a slight laugh. "Good question, when does the next plane leave" he joked, "But really, Id like to go soon, the faster we get away from here, the happier Ill be" "Ditto"
It had been a week since the Grammys and the remaining members of *N Sync spent a lot of time holding press conferences about Justins departure from the group. They had to make the decision of whether they were going to continue without Justin, or break up. They decided that they would give it a shot, staying together and if it didnt work, they would go from there. Justin and Lyn had left for Australia, only telling Ann where they were going to be.
The Backstreet Boys lives had been basically normal and non-chaotic, up until that point. Then one day, everything changed
"Hello?" AJ said, answering his phone. "Hey baby" Amber said. "Hiya doll! How is everything?" "Pretty goodand you?" "Same here" "Good, I was wondering if you wanted to do something with the guys today" "Yea, sure, what do you wanna do?" "Well I havent been to the zoo lately, ya wanna go there?" "Sure, it sounds fun! I havent been there in ages" "Ok, do you wanna call the guys?" "Sure, Ill talk to ya later" "K, bye sweets, I love you" "Love you too, bye" AJ called Kevin, Brian, Nick, and Howie to see if they wanted to go. Brian and Kevin had plans with Jill, Jen and Angeliena, but Nick and Howie said that they would love to go. Howie told him that he and Rose would be a little late so they decided to just meet AJ, Nick and the girls, at the zoo.
Nick picked up Jessica around 11:30 in the morning. Next they picked up AJ, then Amber. Nick had just bought a brand new convertible. They were driving down the road, with the top down, the wind blowing in their hair, as they sang along with the radio. Everyone was having a good time, so no one noticed the tractor trailer headed right for them. Then all went black.
Howie and Rose got to the zoo and went to the place where they all had decided to meet, but found no one there. "HmmI wonder what happened to them" Howie said, as they sat down on a bench. "Maybe theyre walking around" Rose mentioned. "Could be, lets just wait, they are bound to show up sometime" Howie said, taking Roses hand in his.
The phone rang at Brians apartment, just as he and Jill were about to leave for Kevins house. "Ello?" he answered cheerfully. "Mr. Littrell?" a deep voice asked. "Yes, I am Mr. Littrell. What can I do for you?" he asked with concern, as he heard sirens in the background. "Im Officer McDugal, with the OPD. Do you know a Mr. Carter, Mr. McLean, a Miss Benson, and a Miss Mastison?" he asked. "Yes, yes I do. Whats happened Officer?" "There has been an accident, the victims are being taken to County General, Miss Benson told me you would be available" "Yes, Officer, Ill be there as soon as possible" Brian said, as tears ran down his cheeks. "What is it Brian?" Jill asked, seeing the distraught look on his face. "There was an accidentNickJessAJAmb-b-ber" he sobbed. "Oh my God" she said as tears formed in her eyes, "Did, did they" she began. "I dunno, we have to go to the hospital now" he said walking to the door, with Jill close behind him.
Howies cell phone rang. "AJ?" Howie asked, hoping it was their friends saying they were stuck in traffic or something. "No, its Brian" he said on the other end. "Bri, whats wrong?" "There was an accident How. Were on our way to the hospital, County General" Brian explained. "Oh no! Well be there" Howie said, hanging up the phone, "They were in an accident" he told Rose as he pulled her toward the exit.
When Brian and Jill got to the hospital they went to the main desk, to ask to see the doctor who was taking care of their friends. "Im sorry sir, the doctor is in the emergency room now. If youll take a seat, Ill let you see him when he is finished" "Thank you" Brian said as he and Jill walked over and sat down on a couch in the waiting room. Brian put his head in his hands. "Theyre gonna be ok Bri" Jill said with tears streaming down her cheeks, "I hope" she whispered more to herself than Brian. Howie and Rose came into the hospital frantically. Spotting Brian and Jill they went over to see what was going on. "Theyre in the emergency room now" Jill explained, "Thats all they told us" "God, why did this have to happen" Howie said, shuttering at the thought of what could happen.
"Mr. Littrell?" the doctor said, coming into the waiting room. "Yes" Brian said getting up and walking over to the doctor. "Im sorry"
"Im sorry we couldnt be seeing each other under better circumstances" "Doctor, what happened? Are they alright?" Brian asked, as Jill, Howie, and Rose came up behind him, listening to what the doctor had to say. "Miss Benson is doing fine, as is Miss Mastison, however, Mr. Carter is in serious condition" he said slowly. "What about AJ?" he asked, dreading the news. "Mr. McLeanhe is in critical condition, but could go into grave at any moment" "Oh, my God" they said, looking down with tears in their eyes. "Hewasnt wearing his seat beltand on impact was thrown from the car" the doctor informed them. "Can we see them?" Jill asked, between sobs. "Miss Benson and Miss Mastison are in their rooms, but Mr. Carter is still in the emergency room, Dr. Jenkins is with him, and Mr. McLean is in the Intensive Care Unit, no visitors are allowed at the moment" "What rooms are Jessica and Amber in?" Rose asked. "Follow me, Ill take you to them"
The doctor led Howie and Rose to Jessicas room and Brian and Jill to Ambers room. "Ill keep you posted on Mr. Carters and Mr. McLeans condition" the doctor said. "Thank you" Brian replied, sitting down on the chair next to Ambers bed. "Hi Amber" he said solemnly. "Brian, wheres AJ?" she said groggily. "Hehes in the ICUhes in critical conditionbut could go to grave" he told her sadly. She started to cry, "He doesnt deserve to die" she said as the tears streamed down her cheeks. "I know" he said getting up and going over to her bed, sitting next to her. He took her in his arms and held her close as she continued to cry. "What about Jess and Nick?" she asked quietly, afraid of the answer she would get. "Nick is in serious condition, hes in the emergency room now, and Jess is down the hall, Howie and Rose are with her" Jill told her. "This is my fault" Amber said slowly. "No, no its not your fault" Brian said consoling his friend. "Yes it is, I suggested the zoo, it was my idea" she said, now crying harder, "If he dies Brian, I dont know what Im gonna do, I love him more than anything" "He loves you so much Am, you know that he does, and I know that hes gonna pull through, its your love that will get him through this" Brian told her again pulling her body into his arms.
"Howie? Rose?" Jessica said as they walked into her room. "Hi Jess" Howie said, going over to her and giving her a hug, "How are you feeling?" "Alright considering" she said. "You know that Nick" he started as Jessica cut him off. "Yea, hes in the emergency room, right?" "Yea" "Hes gonna be ok, right?" she asked. "The doctors are looking up for him, but AJ" "AJ? Is he going to make it?" she asked nervously. "His condition is critical, but could become grave" "Oh my God" she said as she put her head in her hands and started to cry, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" she asked between sobs. "I dont know, but it isnt fair" Rose said, sitting on the side of Jessicas bed.
They stayed at the hospital until visiting hours were over. Throughout that time, Kevin, Jen and Angeliena, along with AJs ex-girlfriend, Samantha, had come, and Nick had gotten out of surgery and his condition was slowly improving. AJs condition, remained critical, not getting better or worse, which was a relief seeing as the doctors were predicting the worst. Before they left, the doctor told them that he would notify them if anything happened, good, or bad.
Jessica and Amber were released the next day. Jessica spent her days with Nick in his room. Just as his condition would appear to be improving, it would drop slightly. Many times, he went into shock, and would float in and out of consciousness. He had lost a lot of blood and was extremely weak. The doctors said that he would recover completely, but it would take some time. AJ was now allowed to have visitors, even though he was unaware of their presence. He had been in a coma since the crash. Amber would spend her time, with him, holding his hand, hoping that he would wake up. One afternoon, while Amber was talking to the doctor in his office, Samantha came to see AJ. She quietly walked over to the bed, and sat down, taking his hand in hers. "AJ, I know that you can hear me" she whispered, "You have to wake up, you have to, I know that we are over, and have been for some time, but I still love youbut even more, Amber loves you, she needs you" She stopped talking, feeling a presence in the room, turning around, she saw Amber standing in the doorway. "Oh hi" she said when she saw her. "Hi Sam" Amber said, walking over to the bed, where AJ was, hooked up to countless machines, "Youre rightI do need himI dont know what Im gonna do ifif he" she said starting to cry. Samantha got up and went over to Amber, embracing her, "AJs strong, hes gonna make it" she said as tears streamed down her face. They spent the afternoon, sitting by AJ and talking about the times that they had spent with him. By 6 oclock, they were ready to leave, in fact they were walking out the hall, when they heard a choking noise behind them. Simultaneously they both exclaimed, "AJ!" running back to his side. His eyes fluttered, and he coughed slightly. Samantha went to get a doctor, leaving Amber in the room with AJ. "J, can you hear me?" she asked, holding his hand. His fingers moved within her grasp. She started to cry again, but now they were tears of joy, "You can hear me!" she exclaimed, kissing his hand within hers, "Deep down inside, I knew you would make it"
AJs condition had been slowly improving, and after spending a month in the hospital, he was released. "Amber, will you take care of me?" AJ asked quietly as his girlfriend helped him into her car. "Of course Im going to take care of you" "No, I mean for the rest of my life. Will you always be with me?" "Yes J, Ill always be with you, I love you very much, and I wont let anything else happen to you, I promise" He smiled, as he put on his seat belt.
"It seems like that month just flew by" Angeliena said as she packed her bags. "Yea" Brian responded. Angeliena had spent the last two weeks with Brian and Jill, and now was getting ready to return to Kentucky. "You know" Brian started, "You really should think about moving down here" "Really?" she asked, surprised at his sudden interest in her presence, "The whole time I was here, you hardly talked to me" "I knowI was afraid" "What? You were afraid of me?" "Not of you. I was afraid that I would fall in love with you again, and" he said quietly. Angeliena stopped what she was doing, to look at Brian, "And what?" "I think I did" "You dont love me Brian. You told me that when we broke up. You love Jill" she said, going back to her packing. "Well who says I cant change my mind" Brian said, taking Angelienas arm. "Brian listen to yourself. You dont want me" "Why does everyone always try to tell me what I want?" "Because you dont know what you want! And if no one told youyou wouldnt get anywhere with your life" "Thats not true! I knew that I wanted to spend my life with Jill! No one had to tell me that!" he shouted. "See Brian! I told you its Jill you love and want, and its Jill you need. Just believe me. But, I want you to know that I do love you" "I love you too Angie" he said pulling her into his arms. As she pulled away she saw Jill standing in the doorway with tears in her eyes. "Brian?" she asked quietly, as a tear fell. "Jill!" he exclaimed, shocked to see her there. She turned away and ran down the stairs. "Excuse me" he told Angeliena, "Jill!" he yelled, running behind her down the stairs, "Its not what it looked like" he said, chasing her outside where she was getting into her car. Before Brian could reach her, she was pulling out of the drive way, and driving down the street. "Damn!" he said, running back into the house to get his keys. He drove around for an hour, but had no luck in finding her.
"Annnnnn" Joey whined. "What do you want Joe? I already told you that I dont know where they went" "I dont believe you" "Joey, you are so immature, why would I lie to you?" "I dunnoand hey, Im not immature" "Yea you are, I dont know what anyone sees in you" "Hey! Thats not very nice" "Who ever said I was nice?" she joked. "I thought you were" he pouted. "Nope, sorry" "Ann, I have a questiondo you think Im a sex-maniac?" "What? I wouldnt knowwellLyn said you were" "UGH! Dont talk about her, shes the last person I want to hear about" "What? Like five seconds ago you were asking where she and Justin had gone" "Well that was five seconds ago" "You make no sense. Where is Gail? Youre actually sane when shes around" "I dont know, she had somewhere to go" "Well me and Amy are gonna go to the mall, wanna tag along?" "Nah, I think Im gonna call Momi" "Ok, whatever, but youre not staying in my house" "Some friend you are!" "Thanks" she said sarcastically.
Later that night
Joey had returned to his house, and around 8 oclock, he got a phone call from Gail. "Hi sweetie" he said, answering his phone. "Hi Joe" "Whats wrong?" he asked. "UmIuhwas talking to Justin" "What? You were talking to that prick?" "Yea, he called me, and he gave me some good advice, and Im going to take it" "What did he tell you?" "He told me that I should dump you, because you arent a very good boyfriend. That you have a habit of cheating on your girlfriends. And I dont want to be hurt like that, so I want out before I get hurt" she said beginning to cry. "That guy is going to get it!" "Joey, please dont take this out on Justin, God knows hes been hurt enough by you" "I dont care, hes ruined every relationship I have ever had" "Well, you dont know where he is, so you cant do anything to him" "Well see about that" he said hanging up the phone on her.
Brian returned home, very upset at his unsuccessful search for Jill. When he opened the door, his heart sank, thinking about how dark and lonely their house looked without Jill there. He put his keys on the table, and sat at the bottom of the steps. "Jill, where ever you are, I want you to know that I love you, I can explain everything" "Please do" a voice said from behind him. He spun around to find Jill standing midway up the steps. "Jill!" he exclaimed, running up to her. As he was about to embrace her, she put her hand out, signaling not to touch her, "Please explain" she said. Brian explained that they were just friends and that the exchange of I love yous was just a friendship I love you. She was easily convinced, "You know I cant stay mad at you, all I have to do is look at that sweet innocent face" she said pulling him into a hug.

A year laterin Australia
"Lynwhere are you?" Justin called walking into the den area of the penthouse they had been living in. "Im in here" she called, walking out of the bathroom. She was wearing a little pink dress. "You look beautiful" Justin said, taking her in his arms. "Thank you" she said smiling, "I cant believe weve been here for a year" "I canbut what I cant believe is that I was able to hold out this longI want to make love to you so bad" "If you only knew" she said quietly, giving him a kiss on the cheek, before returning to the bathroom. He followed her inside. "Lyn" "Yea" she said, spinning around. "I have a small, small ideawhat do you say, we get married?" "Married?" "Yea" "I dont know what to say Justin" "Say yes" he said smiling, pulling her close. "Yes" she replied, kissing him softly. "Great! Lets go then" "What? Now?" "Yea" "I didnt know you meant elope" she said. "Oh, well if you want to wait and have a traditional wedding, thats ok" he said slowly. "No, eloping is cool" she said, taking his hand, as he led her out the door.
Back in the states
After a year of trying to locate Justin and Lyn, Joey was about to give up, but he figured it wouldnt hurt to ask Ann one more time. "Joey! For the whole year you have been bothering me about this and for the whole year I have told you that I dont know!" she yelled at him. "Ann, I dont believe, that Lyn, your own sister, wouldnt tell you where she was going, I can tell when someone is lying" "No you cant!" she yelled at him. "Yes I can, and you are, just tell me Ann" "Joey, I am telling you that I dont know!" "Fine, dont tell me" "Ugh! You are so annoying!" she screamed storming out of the room. "Yea, I love you too" he said sarcastically, as he began to search the kitchen drawers for an address or phone number that could help him find Justin and Lyn. He found a little piece of paper, tucked within Anns address book that said L&J (standing for Lyn and Justin) at the top with an address and a phone number under it. "Ah ha!" he said, copying the information and putting it in his pocket.
In the penthouse after their wedding
Justin opened the door, and carried Lyn over the threshold. He took her into the bedroom, and placed her on the bed. "Ill be right back" he said, turning toward the kitchen. Lyn got up, and followed him. "What ya doin?" she asked, coming up behind him. "Getting the champagne" he told her. "Aww, how romantic" she said smiling, as Justin handed her a glass, pulling her into his arms. "This is to our life. No longer will we see the world as individuals. No longer will we be alone. This is to usMr. & Mrs.man and wifeloversand most of all, best friends" Justin said as he and Lyn interlocked arms and drank to the toast.
After taking the glasses, and putting them on the counter, Justin returned to his bride. He slid the straps of her dress, off of her shoulders, gently kissing the place where they had been. He finished undressing her completely. "I know I told you earlier how much I wanted this, but I dont think you understand how much I really do" "I think I do" Lyn said, unbuttoning his pants. Justin took off his shirt while she did this. He began to kiss her neck, moving to her shoulders. "Justin, are you ready for this?" she asked. "Uh, huh" he said still kissing her, "This is where we complete our union, we truly become one" he said looking into her eyes, falling in love with her all over again. She smiled. Justin picked her up and placed her on the table. She looked so innocent, so desirable. "How come I was the one to be chosen to do this?I dont deserve you, you deserve someone better than me, someone with experience" "Justin, there is no one better than you. And I dont want someone with experience! It makes everything so much better, so much more meaningful. I chose you, you are the one, the one who is supposed to do this. I belong to you, and you belong to me. Im yours. Take what is rightfully yours! Take it! And want it, love it, devour every part of it. I want you, and I want you to do those things. Dont hold anything back from me, give me every part of you, and Ill do all those things. And never say you dont deserve it, because you do" she said with the utmost sincerity, tears forming in her eyes. Justin placed his hand on her cheek, wiping away a falling tear. He gently touched his lips to hers, running his fingers through her hair. She laid back on the table, "Come on Justin, I dont bite" she said, motioning for him to come to her. "Yea, but I do" he said, slowly climbing on top of her. He began kissing her stomach, moving up to her chest, continuing until he reached her lips. "I dont want to hurt you Lyn" Justin confessed, hesitating to go on. "You wont" she told him, as she took his hand in hers, "Im ready for this, just give it to me" She kissed his chest and his shoulders, feeling him penetrate her. She squeezed his hand, as he probed deeper. She closed her eyes as a chill ran throughout her body. "Justin" she said, as she parted his lips, letting her tongue explore his mouth, as his did the same to hers. "Are you still believing that you dont deserve this?" she asked him quietly. "Oh, I definitely dont deserve this" he said, as he pulled her closer, so she was tightly pressed against his body. "You do" Lyn told him, gently touching his soft lips. She kissed him. Justin picked Lyn off of the table, as he carried her towards the bedroom. She wrapped her legs around his waist, and her arms around his neck, and she started to blow softly in his ear. She slowly moved closer and began to suck on his ear lobe, which made Justins knees go weak. "There is no way that we are getting all the way to that bedroom tonight" he said, putting her down on the floor. He kissed her passionately. As he pulled away, Lyn moved away with him, trying to stay in the kiss. "Why did you stop?" she asked. "You told me to devour every part of you" he explained as he kissed her neck, slowly moving to her chest. Reaching her stomach, he slowly outlined her bellybutton with his tongue. He moved lower, placing tender kisses on her inner thigh, exploring what is rightfully his, with his tongue. After some time, Justin could easily say that he knew every part of Lyn, inside and out, every intricate detail of her body. He sat up, pulling her to him. She moved to his lap, and held him so close that she could feel his heart beating, "Justin, youre heart is beating a mile a minute, it feels like its gonna jump right out of your chest" "I think it is" he said, kissing her shoulder, then neck. Then he delicately kissed her hairline, and cheeks, moving to her mouth, separating her lips with his tongue. As he pulled away, Lyn gently bit his lip.
Lyn placed her head on Justins shoulder, holding his waist with one hand, while with the other, she gently touched his neck with her fingertips. "I love you Justin" "I love you too Lyn" "Will you just hold me?" "Yea, I can do holding, holding is good" he said, taking her in his arms. They fell asleep like that, in each others arms.
Justin woke up in the middle of the night, finding Lyn still in his arms. He picked her up and brought her into their bedroom.
Early the next morning, they were awakened by a noise coming from the den. Lyn sat up slowly. "Just, what was that?" "I dont know" he said, getting up and putting his boxers on, "Im gonna go check" "Justin, be careful" she told him, as he neared the door. Before he got there, the door opened, to reveal Joey standing there. "You!" he said, pointing a revolver at Justin. "Oh my God" Lyn gasped. "Joe, put the gun down" Justin told him. "You have ruined everyone of my relationships, every single one" "Joey, dont do anything stupid, put the gun down" Justin said. "No, youre not listening to me, why did you try to ruin my life?" he shouted at him. "Joey, I wasnt trying to ruin your life, I was trying to protect your girlfriends from being hurt" "Bull Shit!" he said, as he aimed the gun and pulled the trigger.
"Noooooooo!!" Lyn screamed, jumping out of the bed, as Justin fell to his knees, "Justin!" she cried, as tears streamed down her cheeks, as she pulled him into her arms. Joey put the gun to her back. "Go ahead shoot me!" she screamed at him, feeling the gun on her back, as she held Justin close. "NO! You dont want to shoot her!" Justin told him. Joey just looked into Justins eyes for a minute, "Youre rightI dont, I want to fuck er, then Ill kill her" he said, trying to pull her away from her grasp around Justins body. "Justin, dont let him take me, dont let him hurt me" she cried as she held him, his blood covering her body" "LynI love you Lyn, Im sorry" he said, struggling for air, as he lost more and more blood. "No Justin, you cant leave me! You caaaant!" she screamed as his body became limp in her arms. "Noooooooooooooooo!!!!" she screamed as Joey pulled her from his body, and ran out of the room. She was screaming and crying but no one heard her, as Joey got into the elevator, dropping her to the ground. She laid there screaming, as he kicked her, trying to shut her up. She stopped yelling, and just cried, as she touched Justins blood on her chest, and then looked at her wedding band. "Aww is that a friendship ring?" Joey asked, noticing the ring. "No you stupid prick!" she shouted at him. "Someones a bitch" "Thats right Joe! I am a bitch! And do you want to know why? Do you?" "Yea" "What the fuck Joe? How friggin stupid are you? You just shot the man that I lovemy husband, and now hes probably dead" she said as her tears ran down her cheeks, "Your such an asshole" she whispered, as she began crying hysterically. "I would say Im sorrybut Im not" Joey said coldly. She started shaking uncontrollably, when the elevator came to a halting stop. "Ahwhat the hell!" Joey screamed as he banged on the elevator door, hoping it would open. He looked over at Lyn, and slid down to the floor next to her, taking her in his arms. She used all of the strength she had to pull away, and move to a spot as far away from him as she could get. "Youre not getting away from me that easily" he said, moving over to her. She tried to disappear into the corner, as he approached. "Joey please dont" she begged as he started to take off his pants. "No Joeyplease dontplease" she cried, as he undressed her. She didnt have any more strength to fight him off. They were stuck in the elevator for an hour and a half, and during that time Joey raped Lyn countless times, and each time, Lyn grew more and more scared than she had been before. Luckily for Joey that the elevator started back up by itself, unfortunately, Lyn had to pay for it. When the doors opened on the first floor, Joey dragged Lyn out of the elevator by her hair. "Joey that hurts!" she cried as he threw her into his car. "I dont care about you" he told her, slamming the door and locking it. He got in the drivers side and sped away. Two hours later he pulled into a deserted parking lot, with a dock behind it. Lyn was sleeping so he carried her to a boat and put her on the floor. He found the keys to the boat in the rental stand, started the boat, and sped out toward the horizon. Lyn woke up. "Where am I?" she asked herself out loud, still half asleep. "Justin?" she said, rubbing her eyes, to see Joey. He turned around to look at her. Everything came back to her all at once. She started to cry, as she sat in the back of the boat, wondering what was going to happen to her. Joey stopped the boat about 55 miles off of the coast of Australias mainland. He went into the storage box on the boat and pulled out an inflatable raft, and pulled the plug, placing it over the side of the boat. "Get up!" he said to her. She did as she was told and walked over to him. He made her get in the boat, "Im feeling nice today" he said, giving her a days worth of food and water. Thanks" she said sarcastically, still crying. He started speeding away for Tasmania, leaving her in the middle of the ocean, to fend for herself. She laid down and cried, knowing that she was going to die a slow and painful death, if someone didnt find her.
A week had gone by and Lyn was becoming extremely weak. The food had lasted her four days, and the fresh water was still there, although it was a small amount. The time that she didnt spend crying or sleeping, she was trying to paddle the boat in the direction where she thought land would be, but the truth was that she didnt know where land was, and knew that if someone didnt find her soon, she was going to die for certain. How could this be happening to me? she asked herself, flashing back to her wedding day, and night, and thinking of Justin. How did he find us? she asked herself, wishing that it was all just a bad dream. She fell back to sleep, and when she awoke, it was the middle of the night and she was surrounded by darkness. She could hear waves hitting rocks in the near distance. She became hopeful, but returned to sleep to await morning. When she awoke this time, it was bright and sunny, and she could see a beach in the distance. She started paddling as quickly as she could. An hour later, she reached the shore. She pulled herself out of the raft and collapsed on the beach. She woke up to the sound of a screaming man. "Oh my God" she said, when she saw the man in her face. "Are you alright?" he asked, with a concerned look on his face. She shook her head. "What is your name?" the man asked her, looking her over. "My name is Lyn Timberlake" "Im Gary Hunter, sorry for screaming, but I didnt know you were alive" "Its okbut do you have food or water by any chance, I havent had anything to eat in a few days and Im really weak" she said in a hushed whisper. "Yea" he said, as he picked her up and carried her back to his house, where he introduced her to his wife and twin daughters. "Nice to meet you" they said in unison. "Nice to meet you too" Lyn replied. "Now lets get you something to eat" he said looking through the refrigerator, "What would you like?" he asked. "Anything! I will eat anything" she blurted out, "Sorry to sound rude" she said slowly. "Its ok, I can see that youre starving, it was a stupid questionsotell me about yourself" he said as he made her a sandwich. "I dont know if you really want to hear my story" He nodded his head with sorrow in his eyes. "But Ill tell you so you know where Im coming from and what Im like" she began, "Im originally from Aspen, Colorado back in the USwait, where am I? Just to make sure" "Tasmania" Gary answered. "Oh, ok" she said shuddering, knowing Joey was planning to go there, "Well, then I moved to Orlando, Florida with my sister Ann. We were living there when I met my boyfriendex-boyfriendJoeythen I fell in love with one of his friendsJustinJustin Timberlake" she said looking down at her hands. "You know Justin Timberlake?" Garys daughters asked simultaneously. "Yeswe got married two weeks agobut" "You are married to him?" they asked with goo goo eyes. "Yes" she said as a tear ran down her cheek. "Girls let her finish" their father said, letting Lyn continue. "Then I left Joey for Justin, well he got mad at firstbut then got over iteven found a new girlfriendbut then Justin talked her into leaving himbecause Joey has a tendency to cheat on his girlfriends. But prior to thatI dont know if you knowbut *N Sync won a Grammywell during their acceptance speech, Justin announced that he was leaving the group due to personal problemsthe whole thing with Joeyand we came herewell to the mainland" she said, taking a breath and a bite of her sandwich. She finished chewing and continued, "We were here for a year and then we got married and the morning after, Joey showed up and he" she started, as a tear ran down her cheek, "He shot Justin and then kidnapped meand raped methen left me in the middle of the ocean in a raft, and he was planning to come to Tasmania" she said, feeling sick all of a sudden. "May I use your bathroom?" she asked, covering her mouth. "Right there" Gary said pointing. She ran into the bathroom and closed the door. "Aww, that poor girl" Garys wife, Jean, said cleaning up the kitchen. "Yeayou knowwe should take her to a doctor to get checked out" Gary said, helping his wife. When Lyn came out of the bathroom she looked paler than she had been before, "Can I lay down some where?" she asked quietly. "Of course sweetie" Jean said, leading her upstairs, to the guest room, "After you are feeling a little better, Gary and I are going to take you to the hospital, ok?" she said smiling. "Yesthank you" Lyn said, almost falling asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.
"I wonder who this Joey guy is, we should call the police" Gary said, to his wife, when she came back downstairs. "Joey Fatone" Staci, one of the twins, told her dad, "His last name is Fatone" she explained. "I cant believe, that he shot Justin, I hope he didnt die" Lori said, looking at her sister. "Oh I know, its so sad" Staci said. "Stac, do you have a picture of this Joey Fatone guy so we can show the cops?" "Yea" she yelled as she ran upstairs to get it.
Lyn returned downstairs a few hours later. "Lyn, come here a second" Gary said, motioning for her to sit next to him. She did and he showed her the picture. "Is this Joey?" he asked quietly. Lyn nodded her head. "I brought you down a picture of Justin" Staci said, handing her a little picture of him. "Thank you" Lyn said, starring at the picture for a few minutes. "Well, I think that we should get you to the hospital, then to the police" Gary said, getting up from his chair. "Yea" Lyn said, following him.
In the doctors office
"Sit down Mrs. Timberlake" the doctor said. Lyn took a seat and sat quietly until the doctor was ready to tell her what he had to say. "We got the results to your tests backand youre pregnant" "Oh" she said, as tears formed in her eyes. "Wed like to keep you here for some time to monitor you, make sure everything is ok" "Alright" "I just have one question for you" the doctor began. "Yes?" she asked, wiping away a tear. "Have you had sexual intercourse within the last month with anyone other thanwell the man who raped you?" he asked slowly. "Yes, my husband". "Unprotected?" "Yes" "Well have to do tests to see whose child it is" the doctor began, "Do you know where either of them are?" he asked, having a feeling she would say no. "No, Justin was shot, and I dont know whats happened to him, but all I do know is that Joey was coming here, to Tasmania, we were going to go to the cops, maybe Mr. Hunter will go for me" she said, wiping away another tear. "Ill go talk to Mr. Hunter, and you can go with Melanie, shell take you to your room" "Thank you Doctor" Lyn said, getting up and following the nurse to her room.
Gary went to the police station. He sat down with an officer and told him Lyns story. He gave him the picture and the officer told him that they would do the best that they could to find him. "But, tell Mrs. Timberlake, if and when we do find him, well need her to testify against him" the officer told him, "So she shouldnt leave the island for too long" "Ok" Gary said. He thanked him, and went back to the hospital.
Lyn was in the hospital for a month, to make sure that she got back into good health and that the baby would be ok. The day that she was released, Gary told her that whenever she wanted, he would take her back to her house to get her belongings.
So the next afternoon, Lyn and Gary went to the mainland and returned to the penthouse. She gathered her clothes and other things, when she found a note. She opened it and read it. It said:

"Oh my God, hes alive!" she said crying. "Whos alive?" Gary asked. "Justin" she said excitedly, going over to the phone. "Im gonna call my sister, maybe she knows where he is" she said. The phone was dead. "Figures" she said, hanging it up.
She finished gathering her things, then went into the kitchen and found the champagne glasses from their wedding night, and put them in her bag. As she walked out of the kitchen, she brushed her hand lightly over the table. "I wish I could go home" she said, going back into the den, where Gary was waiting. "I wish you could tooyou looked so happy together" he said, looking at the pictures of Justin and her throughout the house. "We were" she said, taking the pictures, and putting them in her bag.
When they got back to Garys house, Lyn tried to call her sister again, but the call wouldnt go through. "You really miss himdont you?" Lori said, as Lyn sadly hung up the phone. "YesI do" she replied.
6 months later
Joey still hadnt been found. Meanwhile, Lyn found out that there had been a hurricane back in Orlando, and it took a while to put the city back together. Unfortunately, the phone lines were the last thing that they were worried about. "Uh! Why cant I just call my sister!" Lyn yelled at the phone, after yet another unsuccessful attempt at calling her, "Why wont they just fix the phones!" "I hope that hes ok" Staci said interrupting her. "Me too" Lyn said, sitting down, trying to make herself calm. She was now 7 = months pregnant. "And I hope that its Justins baby" "Me too" Lyn said, putting her hand on her stomach. "What are you going to do if its Joeys?" Staci asked quietly. "I dont know, I dont want to think about that, because I have a feeling that it is" she said getting up. "Im sorry, I didnt mean to upset you" Staci apologized. "Its ok" she said as she left the room. She went upstairs to the room she had been staying in and laid on the bed. She picked up a picture of Justin that she had taken the year before and held it to her chest, "I miss you so much" she said as tears gathered in her eyes.
In Orlando
Justin had been sent back to Orlando after he was released from the hospital in Australia. He went to live with Ann. Two weeks after his arrival, there was a severe hurricane which destroyed most of the city. Six months later the town was rebuilt and Justin tried to restart his life without Lyn, but every day he would wonder about what had happened to her, and go into a deeper depression. One afternoon he was making himself lunch, when the phone rang. He let it ring until the answering machine came on. "Ann! I cant believe that I actually got through! Ok, stop crying. I" When Justin heard her voice he turned around. "Lyn!" he cried, running over to the phone. As he made his way to the phone, he bumped into chairs and almost tripped, but got to the phone before she hung up. "Lyn!" he said into the phone. "Justin!" "Lyn youre alright" he said, as tears ran down his cheeks. "Yes, oh my God Justin, Ive missed you so much. When I found out you were alive, I was so happy, then I couldnt get in touch with anyone back home" "There was a hurricane" "I knowI found out about 6 months agoI was so frustrated, I found your note, and knew you were alive but I couldnt contact you" "Why didnt you come home?" Justin asked. "I cant leave Australia until they find Joey, I have to testify against him, and" "And what?" Justin asked, becoming worried. "Justin will you come back to Australia? Im on Tasmania" "Yea, Ill be on the next flight, but whats wrong?" Lyn began to cry. "Baby what is it?" he asked. "Im pregnantbut I dont know whose baby it isthe doctors need a sperm sample" "Lyn, Ill be there as soon as possiblewhere are you at?" "Im staying with a family, the Hunters. Call when you get herethe number is 332-5839well come and pick you up" "Alright, I love you baby" "I love you too" she replied.
"Gary! I got through! Justin is gonna get the next flight!" she shouted as she came down the stairs. "Thats great!" Lyn had a big smile on her face. "This is the happiest Ive seen you" he said giving her a hug. "Its the happiest Ive been."
The next afternoon, the phone rang. "Hello?" Lyn asked excitedly. "Lyn! Im here" "Ok, well be there as fast as we can" A half hour later, Gary pulled into the parking lot of the airport. "Ill wait here" Gary said, as Lyn got out of the car. "Ok, see ya in a bit" Lyn replied, closing the car door. She walked into the airport, and after a few minutes she caught site of Justin. He was sitting in a chair in the main lobby area of the airport. "Justin!" she shouted, pushing her way through the crowd. Again she called his name. This time he heard her. He jumped up off of his chair and started running towards her. "Lyn!" Justin cried. He took her in his arms, and held her as close as he could, as a tear rolled down his cheek. "Youre so beautiful" he told her as looked into her eyes. "Thank you Justin, I feel like a house, but thank you" she said with a slight laugh, wiping away his tears, as he wiped away hers. Justin leaned over and gently kissed her, and it soon turned into a very passionate kiss. "Come on. Lets get out of here" Lyn said, pulling away, "Garys waiting outside for us" she said with a smile. "AlrightHas this Gary guy been taking good care of my baby?" Justin asked as they walked towards the door. "Yes, and hes very nice, and so are his wife and childrenits gonna be tough to say good bye to them"
"Hello! You must be Justin" Gary said. "Yes. And you must be Gary. Nice to meet you" Justin said as he got in the car. "Nice to meet you too" Gary said as he pulled out of the parking lot. "I want to thank you Garyfor taking Lyn in, I appreciate it" Justin said with a smile. "Its been my pleasure to have her with us" Gary responded.
When they got to the Hunters house, Justin was very tired. Lyn took him up to the room shed been staying in. "Will you sleep with me?" Justin asked, laying down on the bed. "Im 8 months pregnant!" "I dont mean like thatlay down with me" he said smiling. "Oh, alright" she replied, crawling into his awaiting arms. Justin could feel Lyn shaking in his arms, "Lyn, baby, are you alright?" he asked looking down at her. "Justin, what if its notour baby?" she cried. "I dont know honey, what do you think we should do?" "I dont knowI dont think I will be able to handle it if its Joeys baby, God I hope so much that you did this to me Justin" Lyn said with a sigh. "Me too" Justin replied, kissing the top of her head.
A few hours later they woke up to the sound of screams. "Oh my God! Justin Timberlake is in OUR house!" the twins shrieked. "Uh oh" Lyn and Justin said in unison. "GIRLS! Get back herethey were sleeping!" their mother yelled up the stairs, but they were already knocking on the door. "Come in" Justin said. "Hi" they said shyly. "Hi. You must be Staci and Lori. Im Justin" "We know" they responded as they slowly walked over to the bed. "Its ok, I dont bite" Justin joked. They laughed and sat on the edge of the bed. "Just, we should go to the doctor" Lyn said, breaking the silence. "Oh right. Ill talk to you girls later, ok?" Justin said, helping Lyn off of the bed. "Yea. Can we get pictures too?" Staci asked. "Yea" he replied, leading Lyn to the door. "We hope its yours Justin" Lori said as they walked out the door. "So do we" Justin replied.
After the tests were taken, Lyn and Justin waited for the results in a small waiting room outside the doctors office. "So if it is Joeys baby" Justin started. "I was thinking about putting it up for adoption" Lyn said, looking up into his eyes. "Yea" Justin said in agreement, as the doctor came into the room. "Mr. & Mrs. Timberlake? Will you come in?" the doctor called. "Justin, Lyn" he started. Lyn squeezed Justins hand. "I think that youll be happy to hear that the baby is yours" the doctor continued, looking at Justin. Lyn looked over at Justin with a big smile on her face. She got up and gave Justin a hug, "I love you" "I love you too" Justin said, as a tear fell.
"ITS OURS!" Justin and Lyn shouted when they walked through the door. Everyone gave them hugs and congratulated them. "Justin Im so happy" "Me too baby" "Oh, Lyn, the police station called here while you were gone" Jean began. "They found Joey. They have an attorney down at the station that they want you to talk to" she finished. "Alright" Lyn said, turning to Justin, "Shall we?" "After you" Justin said, opening the door for her.
They got to the station and met with the attorney that was appointed to them. The court date was set for August 1st, which was two weeks away. "If you both will testify, that would help a lot " the attorney told them. "What evidence do we have that he shot me and raped Lyn?" Justin asked. "Well when the police came to the penthouse they found the gun, and found Mr. Fatones fingerprints on it, there is a stain of your blood on the carpet, so they know you were the one who was shot, plus your scaras for Lyns rape, the evidence isnt as clear. However he will be put away for a long time because your injurys were almost fatal" the attorney told them. "Thank you Mr. Johnson, well see you in two weeks" Lyn said, as they got up to leave.
A month later
"Im glad thats over" Lyn said, as they left the courtroom. The trial had lasted two weeks. Justin and Lyn had testified against Joey, he was found guilty, and the final sentence was 15 years in prison. Lyn was now very close to her due date, but the doctors said it was alright for her to go on the 20+ hour trip back to the United States, so the day after the trial, they packed their stuff and said good bye to the Hunters. "Send us pictures when the baby is born" Lori said, as they walked out to the awaiting cab. "We will" Lyn replied. They waved bye and got in the cab.
On the plane
"Justin how much longer until we get home?" Lyn asked groggily, rubbing her eyes. "About an hour and a halfyou feeling alright?" he asked. "Yea, just tired" "Tired? You slept for practically the whole flight" Justin teased. Lyn put her head on Justins shoulder, "You know, we never thought of names" she said, resting her hand on her stomach. "Hmm" Justin said, trying to think of a name for their baby. "If its a boy, do you want it to be a junior?" Lyn asked, looking up at Justin. "Justin Randall Timberlake Jr., yea Id like to have a junior" Justin said, kissing the top of her head. "What if its a girl?" Lyn asked. "Ive always liked the name Kathleenwhat about you?" "Kathleen is niceand I dont mind the nickname Katie eitherKathleen, yea" "Ok, then were setwe just need the baby" Justin joked. "YeaWhat about a nursery? Or a house?" Lyn asked. "Well that was going to be a surprise but I guess I can tell youI bought a house for us when I was first sent back to OrlandoI stayed with Ann til I was better, but didnt move in cuz I didnt want to be alone, but I worked on it, painting and putting furniture in. I called Lance, JC and Chris last week and told them about the baby, so they got Ann and they have been working on a nursery for us" he told her. "Oh Justin that is so sweet" she said, giving him a little kiss. "I try" he replied, leaning back in his seat.
"Justin!" Lyn said, shaking him so he would wake up. "What?" he asked, opening one eye. "How much longer until we get home?" she asked, worriedly. "I just told you" he replied. "No Justin, how much longer?!" she yelled, pulling his collar. "Whoa, calm down!" he screamed, trying to pull away. "Justin, Im going to have a baby!" she informed. "No kidding" he replied. "No, like right now!" she yelled, squeezing his hand. "OH MY GOD!Ok, breathe" Justin said, starting to panic. "Justin, calm down. I still have to go through the labor. It wont come out now" She explained. "Ok, what should I do?" He asked, still as scared as he was before. "See if someone on the plane knows what to do" Lyn suggested. Justin stood up and looked around. "IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE.um I MEAN PLANE?" he yelled. Everyone gasped, thinking someone was in serious trouble. "MY WIFE IS HAVING A BABY" he told everyone. "JUSTIN!" Lyn yelled, feeling a pain. "Oh baby, whats the matter?" He asked, sitting back down and taking her hand. "My contractions are starting" Lyn informed. "Is that before or after your water breaks?" he asked. "Before. God I hope my water doesnt break on the plane!" Lyn said, starting to cry. "Its ok sweetie. Its ok" Justin said, putting his arms around her. "Im scared Justin. I mean you always hear about complications what if something happens?" Lyn asked as tears rolled down her cheeks. "Baby, listen to me. Nothing is going to happen, weve made it this far together why would God choose to separate us now?" Justin said, with a tear falling from his eye. "I love you Justin" "I love you too baby" Lyn took Justins hand and squeezed it hard. "Here comes another one" She said. "What should I do?" Justin asked. "Just stay right here with me until the baby comes" Lyn replied. "I will. Ill never leave you" Justin said.
When the plane landed, an ambulance was waiting to pick Lyn up. "Can you walk out to the ambulance?" Justin asked. "Yea" Lyn replied, slowly getting up out of her seat. They walked off of the plane and to the front of the airport to where the ambulance was waiting. "Im sorry sir, you cant come along, but you may follow behind" the paramedic told Justin. "What? This is my wife giving birth to our child and youre telling me that I cant be with her" Justin said. "Im sorry sir, you can follow behind us" the paramedic repeated, helping Lyn into the ambulance. "I dont have my car!" Justin yelled. The paramedic turned to another man in the ambulance, then turned back to Justin. "Alright. You can come along" he said, motioning for Justin to get in. "Thank you" Justin replied with a sigh. "I thought you were gonna leave me" Lyn said, looking up into his eyes. "I told you Id never leave you" he said, taking her hand.
On the way to the hospital Lyns water broke. They got to the hospital within ten minutes and Lyn was taken to a delivery room. "I can come in right?" Justin asked the doctor. "Yea, put these on" he said, handing Justin a set of scrubs. When Justin came into the room, Lyn just looked at him. "Hey sexy" he said. "You are never going to touch me again!" Justin looked at her, the smile leaving his face. "Why?" he asked. "You did this to me!" "No honey, we did this. This is our baby. Remember?" Justin said, going to stand by her side. "Dont get smart with me!" "UmI think Im gonna call the guys" Justin said, afraid of what she would say to that. "Good, go away!" she said.
A half an hour later, around 7 in the morning, Ann, Lance, Charity, JC, Danielle, Chris and Angie got to the hospital. "I cant believe Justin is going to be a father" JC said, turning to Danielle. "Neither can I" she said, sitting down between JC and Ann on the couch in the waiting room. "Lyn always used to say that she wanted to wait to have childrenand now here she is18 and having a babythats what I cant believe" Ann said. "When we first met Lyn, we had no idea that her and Justin would even be togetherthey would always fightit was great" JC joked. "Yea, they used to hate each other, or it appeared that they did" Ann replied. "Lets make bets on whether its gonna be a girl or a boy" Chris suggested, changing the subject. Everyone except Chris thought it was going to be a girl. "Ok, that took uplike what3 minutes of our timenow what do we do?" Angie asked. "We wait" Danielle said, "Im used to thisI have so many nieces and nephews and I had to sit for hours waiting for them to be born" she continued. "Oh greatI hope it doesnt take that long for this kid to come out" Chris said, leaning back in his chair.
The next afternoon around 3, Justin came out of the delivery room. He looked around the waiting room and found everyone asleep except Chris. "Did it come out yet?" Chris asked. "Not yetshes calmed down nowshe doesnt seem to hate me as much" Justin started, "Im so tired, I got like two hours of sleep" "Man, sit down and take the load off" Chris said, patting his hand on the chair beside him. "No, if I sit down, Ill fall asleep and I dont want to miss my child being born" he said, starting to turn around to return to the delivery room. "Just" Chris started. Justin turned around and looked at him. "Im proud of you man" "Thanks Chris" Justin said with a smile.
Four hours later Justin came back out. Everyone looked at him with wide eyes. A big smile spread across his face. "Its a boy!" he announced. There was a chorus of congratulations from everyone but Chris. "Oh yea! I won!" he sang, dancing around, "Pay up everyoneoh yea, and congratulations" he said, with his hand out awaiting his money. "You bet on my kid?" Justin asked in disbelief. "Well, yeait got dull just sitting out heresorry man. When can we see the little rugrat?" "His name is Justin, and you can all see him once they get him cleaned up and get Lyn to a room" he said, sitting down. Ann walked over to where Justin was sitting and took a seat next to him. "Justin, I want to thank you for being there for Lyn" "Yea, but I wasnt there for eight months, eight months that I should have been with her, to help her" he said, putting his head in his hands. "Its ok Justin" Ann said, rubbing her hand on his back. "I am exhaustedI have no idea how many hours I was in therebutit was worth it" he said, looking up at Ann. She smiled. The doctor came out and called Justin back into the delivery room.
"Were ready to go to the room?" Justin asked as he walked in. "Yes" the doctor replied. "Wheres the baby?" Justin asked. "Getting tests done, the nurse will bring him to the room when theyre done" the doctor informed. "Oh, alright" Justin said, walking over to Lyn. "Baby" Lyn said, with her arms outstretched. Justin gave her a hug, "This is much better than never getting to touch you again" Justin said, holding her close to him. "Yea" Lyn said in agreement. "You two ready to get goin?" the doctor asked. "Ohyea" they said in unison. When they turned the corner, they saw Ann, JC, Danielle, Chris, Angie, Lance, and Charity coming down the hall towards them. "Hey girl!" Chris exclaimed, running towards Lyn, "I love you, you gave me a boy!" he exclaimed, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "I what? Gave you a boy? Justin, what is he talking about?" "Nothing sweets" Justin said as they approached the room. When they went in, the room was filled with balloons and flowers, "Did you guys?" Lyn asked, looking back at the group behind them. "No" they replied. The doctor turned to them. "The Carters just had a baby and the flowers and balloons are from their family and friends. "The Carters? As in Nick Carter?" Lyn asked. "Yes, Nick and Jessica, they had a baby girl" the doctor said, helping Lyn get in the bed. "Oh thats great" "They should be back any minute, I think Nick took Jessica down to the nursery to see their baby" the doctor informed. "Alright" Lyn said. Everyone tried to find somewhere to sit. Then the Backstreet Boys and the Carters came to the door. "WOW! There are a lot of people in here" Amber said, looking around the room. "Hey guys" Justin said as they piled into the room. "Hey Justin" Brian said, "Everyone" he continued, "So you two had a baby?" AJ asked, looking at Justin and Lyn. "Yes" Lyn replied. Then the nurse came in. "Mr. & Mrs. Timberlake, heres your son" she said, handing him to Justin. "Thank you" Justin said, looking at the miracle in his arms. "Hes so precious" JC said, "Makes me want to have a baby" he continued, looking over at Danielle. "Yea?" she responded. "Yea" he said, taking her hand and kissing it. "Whats his name?" Jane asked. "Justin Randall Jr." Lyn replied, as Justin placed him in her arms.
After a few minutes Nick wheeled Jessica into the room, "Whoa! This room is packed!" Nick said, looking around. "Justin, Lyn, I didnt know you guys were expecting" "Yea wellWe didnt know you were" Justin replied. The rest of the evening they spent talking and looking at and holding babies. "I think we should have a party" Justin said to Lyn, after everyone, except Nick, had left, "Like a kind of reception to a big wedding we never had" he continued. "Yeathat sounds like a good idea" Lyn said, as Justin sat down beside her on the bed. "Can I kiss you?" he asked. "You sound like a little boyyou dont have to ask" she said, sitting up. He leaned over and kissed her softly. It quickly became more passionate. "I cant believe that I didnt kiss you like that at the airport when I first came back to Australia" "I wish you would havebut I think me being pregnant scared you a little, didnt it?" "Well, kindanot knowing if it was with my childbut why didnt I after we found out? I dont know, but Im glad I did it now" "Yea" Lyn agreed, "Arent you tired?" she asked, running her fingers through his hair. "Extremely" he replied, moving to the chair next to Lyns bed.
"Hey Nick" Justin called over to him the next morning, while the girls were still asleep. "Yea?" "You wanna come to our party? You and the guys?" he asked. "Yea, that sounds great. Thanks for thinkin of us" Nick said with a smile, as he looked down at his daughter. "Whats her name?" Justin asked going over to Nicks side. "Christina Marie" "Shes beautiful" Justin said. "Shes her mother" Nick replied, looking at Jessica. "Just?" Lyn called. "Yea, baby? Im right here" Justin said, going the other side of the room. "I just didnt know where you were" she said smiling. "I told ya Id never leave ya" he said, taking her hand in his. "I know" she replied.
